Introduction

On a blog wesbite the images can be uploaded into these formats: JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF, and SVG. in this arcticle we will not discuss these formats, BMP, GIF, and SVG, because these formats are rare to use in the websites. The images we use most on our website can be JPG, PNG, or WebP. Now, what is the difference between these three?

PNG Format

PNG image is the best quality of the three. That's because it has a loose lace impression inside. This means that the image quality is absolutely fine and there is no data loss. The biggest advantage of a PNG image is that it supports transparent images. This means that the background of the image taken within it can be easily removed. It is removed completely and does not contain any kind of effect. And for this reason, you can adjust the data of the image taken within it to any background of your choice and use it as you wish. But remember that the resulting image may be a little large, so you have to adjust it according to your website and then upload it.

JPEG Format

JPEG images use a little lossy compression, meaning the image quality is slightly reduced. But if you maintain a good balance during image capture, capturing your perfect image at 40 to 50 percent, then the image captured within it can be uploaded in good quality without being compressed. To further improve its quality, many websites are used where you can upload your image and improve its quality further, but remember that if you upload it directly, its quality is lower than PNG, and you have to resort to different websites to improve it further. But if you upload it directly to your website, its quality will be just right for the user to like it. If you want to further improve the user experience, you will have to improve its quality by uploading this image to different websites; otherwise, due to its poor quality, your user experience may go into the minus, and this may affect your website. Remember that in JPEG format, the size of your image will remain small, which will not affect the speed of your website, and it will give a good performance to the user, which will improve your user experience. If you use an image that makes your website slow, it automatically gives a paid impression to the user.

WebP Format

WebP is a format developed by Google, so it supports both low-slice and high-slice image formats. If you compare its quality with JPEG and PNG, then its quality falls within the range of both, that is, its quality is 25 to 80 percent better than JPEG and 25 to 30 percent lower than PNG. Its image creation size is smaller than both; WebP is supported on all major browsers. Only a few browsers do not support it, and their number is very small; users also come to them very rarely. WebP also supports all the major browsers currently working on the Internet well and provides very good quality within them.

Conclussion

If we compare these three image formats, the biggest difference comes down to your own preference as to what kind of image you want to upload to your website. If you are uploading an image on your website in which you want to show the user every detail, then you should go for the PNG format because in this format you can clearly show each and every thing, which makes the user experience very good. If you are using simple screenshots on your website to show a simple process and there are no colors or other subtleties that need to be shown to the user, you can use the JPEG format.

If you want to convert any of the PNG and JPEG files to WebP, we have plugins to convert them, with the help of which you can convert both these formats to WebP. But remember, if you compress an image of any format before uploading it to your website and then upload it, it will not affect the speed of your website, and your website will continue to run smoothly with good speed. And if you upload files in large format and convert them to another format using a plugin, there is an increased risk of slowing down your website speed.

It is better that whenever you want to upload any image on your website, first decide in which format you want to upload it to your website and before uploading it, compress it with the help of any tool, convert it into your favorite format and only after that upload it to your website so that this image does not cause any damage to your website and it continues to provide output to the user with its good performance.
