97 million Schengen visas were issued in 2024 by all Schengen countries. This represents a 141% increase compared to 2023.
Overall, 117 million Schengen visa applications were submitted last year, a 136% increase over 2023.

Top 5 Countries submitting the most applications and receiving the most visas:
China: Approximately 1.7 million applications submitted. Only 80,000 applications rejected.
Turkey: 1.17 million applications submitted. However, a significant number of visas were refused here: 167,012.
India: 1.1 million applicants applied. 165,266 visas refused.
Morocco (Surprisingly): 668,000 applications submitted. 115,774 applications refused.
Russian Federation: 66,594 applications submitted. 44,885 applications refused.
Pakistan (Important Note): 78,362 Schengen visa applications submitted by Pakistanis in 2024. 35,139 faced visa rejection. This means the visa approval rate was approximately 43,000. Additionally, almost 17,833 multiple-entry visas were issued. A high visa rejection rate was observed from Pakistan.
Countries with High Visa Refusal Rates (among top applicants): Bangladesh (549%), Russia (7.5%), Turkey (14.5%), Iran (26%), Mauritania (32.5%), Nigeria (45.9%), Senegal (46.8%).
Countries Rejecting Highest Percentage of Applications: Malta (38.5%), Estonia (27.2%), Belgium (24.6%), Slovenia (24.5%), Sweden (24.0%), Denmark (23.7%), Croatia (19.3%), Poland (17.2%), France (15.8%), Czech Republic (15.8%). Note: Malta and Estonia traditionally had very low rejection rates and high success rates in past years. However, recently, a very large number of applicants started applying to these countries, leading them to increase their rejection rates.

Countries Issuing the Most Visas
France: Issued over 2.5 million Schengen visas.
Spain: Issued more than 1.3 million Schengen visas through its Consulates and Embassies.
Germany (Surprisingly): Issued over 1 million Schengen visas.
Italy: Issued approximately 1.9 million Schengen visas.
Greece (Surprisingly): Issued visas to over 69,000 applicants through its Embassy and Consulates.
Visa Type: Of all Uniform Schengen Visas issued, approximately 50% were multiple-entry visas. Additionally, 85,119 Uniform Schengen Visas were issued directly at external borders.
Trend: Overall, the trend of Schengen visa applications is increasing continuously in Schengen countries. It is expected that these numbers will continue to increase next year.
